Interstate Fake Currency Racket Busted in Bengaluru..! 7 Arrested
Bengaluru’s Chamarajpet police have busted an alleged interstate fake currency racket involving the printing and attempted circulation of counterfeit notes. Seven people have been arrested, and police have seized counterfeit currency, mobile phones, a car, and printing-related equipment.
The case came to light when police intercepted a car near a petrol bunk close to the Mysuru Road flyover. Two suspects were detained, and a search of the vehicle reportedly led to the recovery of 4,337 counterfeit ₹500 notes, with a total face value of approximately ₹21.68 lakh.
During the investigation, police reportedly uncovered links to a larger interstate network. Acting on information obtained during questioning, police conducted a raid at a suspected counterfeit currency printing location in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri region.
During the raid, authorities reportedly seized 17 printing machines, paper, currency-note strips, and counterfeit notes worth around ₹6 lakh. Investigators have also found alleged links extending to parts of Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
Seven accused persons — Sathyam, Murugesh, Govindan, Barkath, Saravanan, Lakshman and Krishna — have been arrested in connection with the case. Police also seized a car and eight mobile phones during the operation.
Police are continuing their search for other suspects who are reportedly absconding. The investigation is focused on tracing the source of the counterfeit currency, the printing network, and the alleged method used to circulate the fake notes.
Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
